In this course you’ll learn about dynamic posing for specifc character types. CHAMBA will show you how to design 3 totally different characters and then take each character and pose them in a way that emphasizes their individual features and characteristics. This is a really fun, informal course where you’ll get to see CHAMBA’s style of drawing and get lots of tips about using perspective for posing characters. And remember, to get the most out of this course, take your time and do the assignments 🙂
You’ll get a quick introduction to who I am, and I’ll showcase work from my professional history, giving you some insights into the pieces and laying a structure for the course as a whole.
In this lesson, I rough out the early steps of the 3 character designs that we will be working with throughout the course.
We finalize the design of our first character of three, in the style/look influenced by cartoons of the likes of PowerpuffGirls/Panty & Stocking.
We finalize the design of our second character of three, in the style/look influenced by fighting games from the likes of Capcom/SNK. You’ll learn about a different style of shading and coloring in this one.
We finalize the design of our final character, in the style/look influenced by U.S comics with the incorporation of spot-black inks/hatching and gradient-cut colouring.
I show the ‘skeleton’ or ‘frame’ of each design and show how it can be used and applied to dynamically pose each character.
We pick a pose from each of the characters designed and finish them off with full ink and colour. We cover things like force perspective, shading and coloring to help the image standout!
